French Exchange 2019

2nd Year French exchange to College Jeanne D'Arc in Albertville.
French Exchange 2019

On the 7th of February, seventeen 2nd Year students and two teachers, Ms. O’Halloran and Ms. Lafferty, travelled to France for an exchange with College Jeanne d’Arc in Albertville in the Savoie Region of France. Each student was linked with a correspondent before leaving and stayed with a French family for the week when they arrived. They began the week with a very early start leaving the school at 1am on the Thursday morning, but they were all energetic and excited to meet their French correspondents when they arrived. After landing in Geneva they got the opportunity to take in the beautiful scenery of the Alps on their way to the town of Albertville where they would be staying for the week. Throughout the week they took part in many different activities from visiting the purest lake in France in Annecy as well as the local market there, the medieval town of Conflans, fun in the snow with a view of Mont Blanc, as well as some classes with their French correspondents. At the weekend students got to enjoy time with their French families. Some had the opportunity to ski, some went shopping, and some got to ice skate on the 1992 Winter Olympics ice rink in Albertville, as well as trying the local specialities for many of their meals. Overall a great week was had by both students and teachers, and we look forward to the returning visit from our hosts in May.
