This year St.Joseph’s RE Department held our annual Mission Week the last week of October to coincide with Mission Month. Unlike other years when we fundraised to send funds out to Missionvale in South Africa to show our support for the mission founded by a past pupil Sr.Ethel Normoyle, this year we were also fundraising to send two students and a staff member to South Africa in February, 2024. Our school community really embraced our school Ceist value of ‘Community’ by wholeheartedly supporting the various events throughout the week. The week began with informative talks on Missionvale, SA, given by FR. Donagh to all first year students along with class quizzes, senior coffee mornings, copper races, school bake sale and finally our annual Halloween Fancy Dress/Non-Uniform day which all helped to raise a staggering €2,500 during the week. Overall, €6,000 is needed to send our students to South Africa this coming February. There will be various events/ raffles as we approach Christmas to help reach our target but for now the RE Department would like to extend a huge thank you to our school community for their very generous support throughout the week!
